Edit mode
Cut, trim, slow down, hold a frame, bring in other videos.
What it is
Edit is the timeline with every editing tool: cut at the playhead, trim a clip by its edges, delete a stretch and close the gap, slow any part or speed it up with a smooth ramp, hold a freeze frame, and splice in a video from your library. With the full studio, Edit also has motion, transitions, picture in picture and camera moves. Nothing here changes the footage itself, so every step can be undone.
How to use it
- Choose Edit under the picture.
- Move the playhead and choose Cut, or drag a clip's edge to trim it.
- Select a clip for its Speed, Motion and Sound in the inspector.
- Mark In and Out (I and O) around a stretch to slow it or cut it out.
- Undo anything with ⌘/Ctrl Z.
In your coaching
Cut the first twenty seconds of setup from Clara's clip, slow the rep itself to 50%, and hold the finish for two seconds.
Good to know
- Your notes stay on the moment they are about, wherever the edit moves it.
- Back to the footage as filmed is one tap in the inspector when nothing is selected.
