What you are doing

Notes, Analyse or Edit. Each shows only its own tools and its own lanes of the timeline, so one job is on screen at a time. On a wide screen the switch sits up here; on a phone, just under the picture. Keln remembers the one you used last.

All eight, as a list
  1. What you are doing Notes, Analyse or Edit. Each shows only its own tools and its own lanes of the timeline, so one job is on screen at a time. On a wide screen the switch sits up here; on a phone, just under the picture. Keln remembers the one you used last.
  2. The picture Where you draw, and where you tap the athlete, the bar or the ball for Keln to follow. Pause on a moment and it stays on that frame while you work.
  3. Play and step Play, step one frame at a time with ← and →, slow it as far as 0.1×, and loop a stretch between A and B. The marks along the bar are your notes. + Note here starts a note at the playhead.
  4. The tools The tools for this mode. One that can do two things asks which on the line beneath it, such as On this frame or Follow the athlete, and starts with the usual answer, so one tap is enough. How it works opens its page in this wiki.
  5. The timeline The video and everything on it, in lanes. Notes shows your notes; Analyse, the tools that follow and measure; Edit, the clips themselves, an overlay, the camera and the sound. Tap something on a lane to go to it, or to change it.
  6. The note you are writing Write what you see, or record a voice note with the full studio. Add note pins it to that moment of the footage, and it stays on that moment wherever the edit moves it.
  7. Your notes Every note in order. Tap one to go to its moment, or slow it down in one tap. Make a reel turns the moments they are on into a new video.
  8. Share and Download Share makes a link anyone can watch without an account. Download makes a video file with everything burned in.

Start a video

Open Studio from the sidebar and choose New video. It can start from any of three places.

Upload a new video

From your phone or your computer. It counts toward your video minutes, and studio videos never expire.

From your library

Open a video you already keep in your library. It plays the same file, so it costs no extra minutes, and deleting one leaves the other.

From a client's clip

Start from a video a client sent you for review, once you confirm they are happy for you to use it. It plays their clip, at no extra minutes.

Notes, Analyse, Edit

Under the picture, a switch picks what you are doing. Each mode shows its own tools and its own lanes of the timeline, and nothing else.

NotesAnalyseEdit NEW NOTENOTES NOTESVIDEO

Notes Say what you see.

Pause on the moment that matters, draw on the frame, and write or record what you see. A note with a drawing holds the frame when it plays; words alone show as it plays.

LanesNotesVideo

The note you are writing and the list of notes sit beside the picture.

Notes mode, step by step
NotesAnalyseEdit FOLLOWMEASURESEECOMPARE ANALYSISVIDEO

Analyse Follow, measure, time, compare.

The tools here stay on the picture while it plays. Most begin the same way: tap the athlete, the ball or a joint, and Keln follows it frame by frame.

LanesAnalysisVideo

The picture takes the full width.

Analyse mode, step by step
NotesAnalyseEdit OVERLAYVIDEOCAMERASOUND

Edit Cut it, time it, shape it.

Cut and trim, slow a moment or speed through one, hold a frame, bring in another video, name its chapters. The footage itself is never changed, so every step can be undone.

LanesOverlayVideoCameraSound

The picture takes the full width; select a clip and its Speed, Motion and Sound open beside the timeline.

Edit mode, step by step

The mode is remembered. A video that cannot be edited yet (still being prepared, or on Free) stays in Notes.

Start to finish

Four jobs coaches do every week, from the first tap to the finished video.

AFeedback on a clip, in two minutes

Pro

  1. Open the video and choose Notes under the picture.
  2. Play it, and pause where it matters. ← and → step one frame at a time.
  3. Choose Circle (or press O) and ring what you mean.
  4. Write what you see in New note, then choose Add note. With a drawing on it, the frame holds for three seconds when it plays.
  5. Do the same for each moment. Then Share it, or publish the review to your client.
Bar path

BShow the bar path and its speed

Ultra

  1. Choose Analyse and pause on the first frame of the lift.
  2. Choose Path and tap the end of the bar. Keln follows it frame by frame and draws where it goes.
  3. Choose Distance and the scale, then Set the scale in its panel: tap across a plate and type 0.45.
  4. Choose Speed and tap the end of the bar again. A tap near a point Keln already follows reuses it.
  5. Play it back, then Download: the path and the speed are in the file.

CTighten a long video and name its parts

Pro

  1. Choose Edit. Move the playhead to where the action starts and press C, or choose Cut.
  2. Select the clip before the cut and press ⌫. The gap closes.
  3. Mark In and Out around the rep with I and O, then choose Speed to slow it, with a smooth ramp in and out.
  4. Move to the finish and press F to hold it as a freeze frame.
  5. Move to where each part begins and choose Chapters. Type its name.

DA reel for social

ProSteps 3 and 4 are the full studio, on Ultra.

  1. Leave a note on each moment that matters.
  2. In Notes, choose Make a reel on the Notes card. Keln cuts the reel and opens it.
  3. In Analyse, follow the athlete: choose Path or Circle and tap them.
  4. In Edit, choose Shape for social, then 9:16, then the point you followed under Keep it on the athlete.
  5. Download it, and post it.

←Three cues… Download + Note here NotesAnalyseEdit NOTESVIDEO NEW NOTEHips and shoulders rise… NOTES 3

The same studio, made for a thumb. Everything is there; it stacks instead of sitting side by side.

  • The picture comes first, with the mode switch just under it.
  • The tools sit in one strip: slide it sideways for the rest.
  • Every button is a full fingertip, 44 points or more.
  • The note cards come after the timeline, further down.
  • Downloads work on a phone too: keep Keln open and the screen on until it finishes.

Share and download

Share by link

  • Share makes a private link. Anyone who has it watches the video as you made it, notes, drawings and voice included, on a phone or a computer, with no account.
  • Turn the link off and it stops working for good. Turning it on again makes a new one.
  • A client's review is different: they see it on their own page once you publish it.

Download a video

  • A video file of exactly what plays: every drawing, held frame, zoom, transition, path, angle, timer, note and voice note, burned in.
  • Choose 1080p or 720p. It is MP4 where your browser can make one, and WebM where it cannot.
  • It is made in your browser as the video plays through, so it takes as long as the video does. Keep the tab open, and in front, until it finishes.
  • A video with a shape downloads in that shape, and chapter titles show as each part begins (or leave them out).

Questions and fixes

The download takes as long as the video.

It is made in your browser as the video plays through, so a two-minute video takes about two minutes. Keep the tab open and in front: if it is hidden, Keln stops and says why, rather than leave gaps in the file.

Keln lost the point it was following.

It says so when it does. Drag the dot back to where the point really is and it carries on from there. A point with an edge or a pattern on it follows best, and it follows up to half a minute at a time.

A tool says Ultra.

It is part of the full studio, on Ultra. Anything already made with it stays and plays on Pro, and can be cut around or taken off.

My notes moved when I cut the video.

Notes are pinned to the moment of footage they are about, so they move with it. A note on footage you cut out is kept, and shows again if the footage comes back.

Where did the note cards go?

Analyse and Edit give the picture the full width. Choose Notes to write a note or see the list.

How do I undo something?

⌘/Ctrl Z undoes anything. The footage itself is never changed: in Edit, with nothing selected, one tap takes the edit back to the video as filmed.

Who can see my studio video?

Only you, until you share it. A link works for anyone who has it, until you turn it off.

Does a reel, or a video from my library, use up minutes?

No. Both play the same footage as the video they came from. Only a new upload counts toward your minutes.

The tips stopped showing.

Each tool's tip shows the first time you open it, once in each browser. How it works, under the tools, opens its page any time.

Can I take the tour again?

Yes. The ? at the top of the studio has the tour and this guide, any time.
